About the Artist

Growing up on the Prairies, Debbie was influenced by the vast skies, roaming landscapes and amazing sunsets. Beginning her studies of Fine Arts later in her life at the University of Saskatchewan and through various Art Workshops she began developing her own style in landscapes, figures, portraits and abstracts. After moving to B.C. in 2005 and transferring to the University of British Columbia - Okanagan her passion for landscapes transformed to mountainous views.

Now after a brief hiatus she has returned to her passion for Art, where she is looking forward to a new direction in her work. Concentrating her studies now on larger intuitive abstract works in different mediums she hopes to find her creative voice. For Debbie, the creative process is more important than the finished product, each brushstroke becomes a meditation, and each canvas holds a fragment of the journey.

“I paint to translate emotion onto the canvas. The landscapes of the Okanagan, the memory of prairie light, and the human figure all become abstract conversations. My work is intuitive, it breathes and changes as I work.”
— Debbie Lynch

Her work has been exhibited in group shows across British Columbia and is held in private collections throughout Canada. She continues to explore the tension between representation and abstraction, often working in acrylics, mixed media, and oils. Debbie's studio practice includes regular participation in workshops and art retreats, including programs at the Kenderdine Art Campus and Dundas Valley School of Art.
